About the inscenation
Cult of Fire and orchestra will play Smetana again – this time in Prague’s Hybernia.
After a successful performance at this year’s Brutal Assault festival, Cult of Fire and Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague will play again in Prague’s Hybernia. Once again they will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bedřich Smetana’s birth in its more intimate premises.
Cult of Fire continue the best traditions of Czech black metal and during their existence they have become one of the few Czech bands that have managed to establish themselves on the international music scene. The band is especially known for their visually captivating performances, which have taken them to almost every continent and gradually developed into headliners of unique musical events.
The symphonic arrangements for the band and the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague were prepared by the artistic director and conductor of this ensemble, Martin Šanda, for whom collaboration with metal bands is nothing new. “It’s great that we can use this project to connect two completely different musical worlds and bring both classical music to metal fans and, conversely, quality and honest metal to classical music lovers,” says Šanda.
Vladimír Pavelka (Cult of Fire), who is behind the music for this unique performance, explains how the dramaturgy was born. I could imagine these in all their beauty and metal performance. Alongside them I want to present my own composition ‘Váh’, which I composed as a tribute to the longest Slovak river.”
