About the inscenation
For January 2025, the Brnoconcert agency is preparing a series of unique concerts, where three true legends will come together. The Czech Republic will host the successors of the famous The Animals – The Animals and Friends, and Creedence Clearwater Revived, who spread the legacy of John Fogerty’s Creedence Clearwater Revival. These rare international guests will be supported by one of the most important rock bands in Czech history – Flamengo.
The Animals is originally a rhythm & blues and rock band from the 1960s. Arguably Britain’s most stylish band, they formed as the Alan Price Combo in Newcastle, where they played regularly every Saturday at the packed Downbeat Club. After Eric Burdon took over as lead singer, they relocated to the flashier A-Go-Go club and changed their name to The Animals in early 1964. They then performed in clubs in and around London. Many of the band’s hits topped the English and American charts. After two albums – The Animals and Animals Track – Alan Price left the group in May 1965.
Since 2003, the band has toured under the name The Animals and Friends and consists of the original band’s co-founder John Steel, joined by Danny Handley, Roberto Ruiz and Barney Williams. Live, the band will perform (not only) songs such as The House of the Rising Sun or Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, which brought the group worldwide fame alongside the Beatles and the Rolling Stones among the gems of British music.
The British formation Creedence Clearwater Revived enjoys great popularity in the Czech Republic and regularly performs here. Their performances will take you back to the time of the Woodstock festival, when the original Creedence Clearwater Revival band existed. Its line-up consisted of guitarist and songwriter John Forgety, guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford, and they were considered the founders of the so-called Southern rock (the main icon is still ZZ Top, with Johnny Winter, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Allman Brothers Band and Steve Ray Vaughan among the main acts), but today they no longer perform.
The concert will feature the best live renditions of all of CCR’s big hits, including Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Green River, Looking At My Back Door, Who’ll Stop The Rain, Suzie Q and I Put a Spell On You.
The Czech band Flamengo made an indelible mark in music history with the album Chicken in the Clock (1972), which according to many critics is the best rock album of all time in the Czech Republic. It is one of the most important domestic bands, along with E.T.C. Vladimír Misik and Michal Prokop’s Framus 5. The band’s line-up currently consists of Pavel Fořt (guitar), Vladimír “Guma” Kulhánek (bass), Jan Holeček (Hammond B3, vocals), Jiří “Zelí” Zelenka (drums, vocals) and Vladimír Boryš Secký (saxophone and flute, vocals).
