About the inscenation
The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, is undeniably one of the most important personalities from popular music of the 20th century. One of the highlights of his remarkable career was the concert which took place in 1973. It was broadcast live by satellite for the first time in human history and gained the total audience of billions of people. The concert was held in December on the Hawaiian island of Honolulu. Elvis proved that he is rightfully called “the King”. In the Czech Republic, his name has a good reputation and is certainly in the consciousness of our listening population. However, it is still necessary to remember his great importance. For the young generation, older but high-quality music is often condemned to disinterest. That is why the Lokomotiva band, led by Petr Vondráček, has spent its entire 28-year career trying to pass on Elvis’ legacy with respect. Not in the cheap and theatrical way that the various imitators who put on wigs and black glasses do, but with a great respect and love for Elvis, which Petr Vondráček has in his heart. The “Aloha from Hawaii” concert was first performed by Lokomotiva in Zlín in 2012 with the Bohuslav Martinů Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Stanislav Vavřínek. Later, it was performed twice – in Žilina and Slovakia with the local symphony orchestras. This was followed by concerts in Kladno and at the jazz festival “Jazz Days Dubá”. They met with extraordinary success. In January 2024, it will be exactly 51 years since the Elvis Presley’s concert took place. That’s why Petr Vondráček, Lokomotiva and Symphony Big Band Prague will come together on 19 January 2024 at the Hybernia Theatre in Prague and will try to commemorate the great musical event of the last century in the most meaningful way possible and to refresh the memory of the audience with the beautiful melodies and honest Rock ‘n’ Roll that the King Elvis Presley was responsible for. You simply can not miss this…
