About the inscenation

The singer JAN SMIGMATOR returns to the stage of Prague’s Hybernia Theatre to premiere his new concert project SWINGPHONIC on 29 February 2024, following his successful album of songs by George and Ira Gershwin and his debut concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall. In new elegant arrangements, accompanied by a jazz quartet and large strings, the PKF – Prague Philharmonia will sing the famous songs of the Great American Songbook, the hits of his singing role models Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, as well as a number of his own original songs written by Jan Smigmator over the years together with pianist and composer Svatopluk F. Smola.

The jazz quartet will feature Jan Smigmator’s long-time bandmates, pianist Vladimír Strnad, double bassist Jan Greifoner, drummer Marek Urbánek and tenor saxophonist Jan Kyncl.

The PKF – Prague Philharmonia‘s large strings will be led by conductor Stanislav Vavřínek and the special guest of the concert will be violin virtuoso Jan Talich.
