About the inscenation

LAIBACH are rewriting the past and heading to Prague’s Theatre Hybernia.

The music, aesthetics and concept of the Slovenian provocative visionaries LAIBACH, which also includes graphic work (collages, posters) and installation art, have had a huge influence on the genres and popularization of industrial music in general, but above all makes them a band of many faces that has given industrial music many forms by incorporating samples and techno influences.
At the beginning, LAIBACH were rather experimental band, but over the years they have recorded many distinctive covers (and later full albums of cover versions), interpreted national anthems and theatrical performances, created film soundtracks, engaged in collaborations with other artistic collectives, but because of the involvement of guitars, their portfolio includes the label ‘rock band’.
LAIBACH, who played two shows in North Korea in 2015, making them the first “Western” band to play in both Korean regions, formed in the industrial mining town of Trbovlje in 1980. They took their name from the name of the nearby city of Ljubljana during the Nazi occupation and by incorporating controversial themes and stylization into their universe they were persecuted several times, e.g. by cancelling or banning concerts. Especially for their themes of totalitarianism.
On the new album “Sketches Of The Red Districts” the band returns back to Trbovlje. Here, in a new/fresh way, they explore the conflicting genesis of the band’s formation in this industrial city in 1980 and question their aesthetic, sonic and ideological roots in hindsight. As usually, LAIBACH is turning everything upside down again with this move.

And to make sure their next concert in Prague doesn’t smell of ordinariness, it will take place in the exclusive venue of the Hybernie Theatre. Only seating tickets are on sale at GoOut.
